New York City Social Worker Sarah Autz

A Brooklyn-based social worker, Sarah Autz studied psychology as an undergraduate at Wesleyan University. She served as coordinator for the university’s chapter of Eye to Eye, a national organization providing services to students with learning differences and disabilities. In this role, Sarah Autz mentored multiple middle school students and oversaw the Wesleyan Eye to Eye members. She facilitated the execution of an art-based curriculum designed to enhance students' confidence and increase their metacognition and coping skills.

Sarah Autz continued her education at the Silberman School of Social Work, earning her MSW with honors. Her on-campus achievements included organizing and mediating a student town hall attended by school administrators. She also collaborated with school administrators as an advocate for students' needs. She completed her internship at Exodus Transitional Community, Inc.'s Center for Trauma Innovation (CTI). Her duties in this position involved conducting intakes, completing assessment scales, facilitating groups, and managing a 10-person caseload.

She led multiple treatment groups and services focused on trauma and spearheaded the development of CTI's LGBTQIA+ support group and curriculum. Her interests as a professional social worker range include the impact of the national justice system on America’s LGBTQIA+ community and the psychological effects of solitary confinement.
